LS Gasoline RC Airboat Rules and Regulations
Maximum total RTR weight without fuel 35lbs Max 54cc one cylinder or combination of two cylinders Engine/engines shall be full crankshaft, Cantilever crankshaft engines will not be allowed.Roll/prop cage rungs max opening distance 2-½”. Rung material minimum 1/8” steel rod or tubing, 1/8” stainless steel rod or tubing, 3/16 aluminum rod or ¼” tubing Roll/prop cage must cover front, top and sides of propeller. Roll cage must be able to support the weight of the RTR boat. Boat must be equipped with a carrying handle capable of supporting the weight of the boat with engine running. Max hull length 50”. All engines must have a kill engine switch and/or able to kill engine by remote. Propellers
must be made of non-wood material. Propeller hubs and washers will only be made of aluminum, steel or stainless steel. Minimum
¾” diameter. Plastic or nonferrous metal propeller stud/nuts are not allowed. Aluminum spinner nut will be allowed. Class Designation- LSG Airboat The intent of this class is to utilize a large scale gasoline, everglades/swamp style rc airboat. With a flat bottom, propeller cage and air finned rudders. The minimum cylinder displacement will be no less than 23cc. The maximum cylinder displacement must not exceed 54cc for one cylinder and/or combined cylinder total. Maximum number of cylinders will not exceed two cylinders. The maximum engine RPM’s shall not exceed the propellers manufacture's maximum RPM range. The propeller shall have a guard/cage, enclosing the arc path and front of propeller. Minimum arc clearance of propeller to cage shall be no less than 3/4". Minimum rung opening shall not exceed 2-1/2". Cages shall be built of metal, either or combination of, steel, stainless steel and/or aluminum. The maximum diameter of the propeller will not exceed 20". Propellers made of wood will not be allowed. Propellers made of Glass-Filled/Composite or Glass-Filled/Nylon shall be used. Propeller hub/adapter shall be made of aluminum and/or steel with a minimum diameter of ¾“ with a propeller base matching the propeller hub. The minimum propeller washer size shall have a diameter of ¾” and a thickness of 3/16”. Propeller washers will only be made of either aluminum or steel. LSG Airboat Class This class will be limited to mono type hulls defined as a flat and/or rounded bottom hull. Everglades/swamp style airboat, with a flat bottom. Bottom runners are allowed with a max size of 3/16” thick x 3/8” wide, no max or minimum length. Water rudders, turn fins are not allowed. “V” bottom, stepped hulls or hydros are not allowed. Rounded bottoms are allowed, minimum radius of 8’ Ex. The center line may be up to 3/8” below the sides on a 17” wide bottom. Inverted bottoms are not allowed. Ex. Upside down rounded bottom. The sides of the hull are not allowed to be lower then the bottom of the hull. Transom trim tabs are allowed. This will be a GASOLINE POWERED ONLY class. The maximum hull length will be 56 inches including rudder/rudders and hardware. No driveline or propeller may extend outside of the propeller cage. Steering hardware and rudder/rudders may extend maximum 6 inches beyond the hull. The maximum weight of the complete race ready boat without fuel shall not exceed 35 pounds. The boat must have the engine/engines connected to an engine stand/mount that is capable of securely holding the engine/engines in place while propelling the boat forward. |
